David Camenzuli - Model
FM: What first attracted you to modelling?
DC: I love meeting new people, and I can't complain about all the amazing free clothes either.
FM: How did you turn this interest to a career?
DC: At first I just modelled for fun and for a little extra pocket money. In Malta, I just did a few shoots and shows here and there. It was when I was asked to go abroad that I took it a little more seriously and looked at it as something that can pay the bills.
FM: How did you kick off your career abroad?
DC: I was contacted by a scout from ‘Elite Model Management'. They thought I had a look that could work abroad so they decided to offer me a contract and sign me up with their agency. Everything took off from there and I ended up modelling nearly full time, mostly in Paris, London and Milan.
FM: Do you feel a lot of pressure working away from home?
DC: Not really. I'm used to being away from home. Of course, there are days where I do miss my family and friends but I try to come back every month or so.
FM: What changes have you had to make?
DC: Well the main change is that you have to get used to living on your own - no more mum's washing and cooking. In a way you become much more independent, which is good. Now I'm so used to living on my own that I wouldn't go back to living with my parents. Maybe I'll just pop over for lunch and dinner - my dad's cooking is to die for.
FM: If you were to start over again would chose modelling?
DC: Yes definitely. I've been so lucky to have met so many amazing people in my line of work, not to mention all the beautiful and exotic places I've seen. I definitely have no regrets and if I had to, I would take the same decisions all over again.
FM: What has been your best experience so far?
DC: There are two moments in my career that I will never forget. The first one is my very first fashion show for Calvin Klein during the Milan fashion week. I was slightly nervous but it was so much fun since everything was new to me. The second was a photo shoot that I had in the Maldives - the resort we were in was just unbelievable. The next time I go there will probably be for my honeymoon.
FM: Constantly moving from cities London, Milan and now Dubai - how does that feel?
DC: It's something you get used to. In a way it's good because you learn about different cultures and make new friends and contacts all over the world.
FM: Do you have any role models?
DC: Not really - my role models are my family and close friends. I try and take the goods thing I see in them and adapt it to my everyday life.
FM: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
DC: 5 years? Wow - that's way too far ahead! I just know that I'll be happy and doing something that I love doing.
