Elinor Barbara - Radio Personality

FM: What first attracted you to radio?

EB: It was quite a coincidence as I was just coming from an eight-month contract on a cruise ship and heard of a fantastic new competition on Bay Radio, called The Dream Job

FM: How did you turn this interest to a career?

EB: For the first six months of my job my future depended on our listeners voting if they keep me on air or not. After that, I started full time on Bay and I've been building my career from there.

FM: Do you feel grumpy when you wake up, and do you need coffee to kick off your day?

EB: Thankfully for our listeners I'm a morning person so I'm rarely grumpy. And no I don't need coffee to wake up.

FM: How much time do you spend on the internet?

EB: Ten hours a day. Most of my work is on the internet - I'm always surfing new sites.

FM: Would you describe yourself as romantic?

EB: Yes I'm quite romantic - roses and candlelit dinners are always a plus.

FM: Describe a perfect date

EB: A date on a weeknight would be a good movie and if that goes smoothly we'll have a weekend date dinner at a nice restaurant.

FM: Do you work out?

EB: I used to do all kinds of sports but work took over somehow, so now I do my best to attend once a week a yoga class.

FM: What is your general attitude to health?

EB: I'm into all-organic natural products. I eat junk food but I always tend to balance it out with a lot of fruit and vegetables.

FM: Ever spent a night in hospital?

EB: Thank God no!

FM: Are you happy?

EB: I'm very happy with all the opportunities that came my way through out the years and I'm always looking forward to the next challenge.

FM: What makes you mad and angry?

EB: Hmmm where do I start - I get mad when a slow moving vehicles drive on a fast lane (which happens nine times out of ten). I hate our bumpy roads, people who take our environment for granted, jealousy, hypocrisy and all the negative mentality.

FM: What's your attitude towards football?

EB: It's the only sport I dislike, sorry.

FM: What does ‘sexy' mean to you?

EB: Being comfortable in your own skin.

FM: Favourite food and drink?

EB: I love food - I guess everyone knows that by now! But my favourites are meat and pasta dishes. I drink water most of the time but I never refuse a good glass of wine with a fine meal.

FM: How close are you to your parents?

EB: I'm very close to my parents, especially with my dad. You can say I'm daddy's girl.

FM: Desert island scenario: what 3 albums would you take?

EB: The best of Barry White - I could ‘sing' to his hits with no one listening! The Killers' Day & Age - one of my favourite bands. Lady Gaga's Fame - I was lucky enough to meet her last summer. She's a fantastic artist

FM: Do you follow fashion?

EB: Yes, I love fashion. I'm always on the look out for new trends. I love creative fashion.

FM: How do you shop: guerrilla-style shopping or a carefully planned shopping trip?

EB: It depends on my mood. There are times when I shop just for the sake of not going home empty handed.

FM: Describe a journey that changed your life

EB: An eight-month journey on a cruise ship changed the way I look at life. There's so much more to discover and appreciate in the world that a lifetime is not enough.

FM: How important is travel for you?

EB: Very important - I love Malta but sometimes it gets claustrophobic and I tend to travel to places like Ireland and Scotland were you can drive for miles and all you see in front of you is an endless green carpet. Just being at one with nature is the best thing in the world.

FM: What's your favourite room at home?

EB: The kitchen - when I have some free time at hand I love trying out new recipes.

FM: Do you prefer winter or summer?

EB: Definitely summer - I love the beach and the warm weather. Everything looks better in summer and people look happier too.

FM: If a genius of the lamp appeared, what 3 wishes would you ask for?

EB: Health, happiness and fortune.

FM: If you had to change your career, what would you do?

EB: I've never thought of changing what I do but if I had to, I'd probably go back to my first passion - painting or anything that involves art and creativity.
